Devlog 2: More research and testing

Hello again!

This week was focused on research, nailing down the art style for our game and making the first functioning gameplay prototypes!

Testing

First and foremost, we needed to know if our ideas would work in game. For this reason, we started making all sorts of prototypes and tests. This ranges from movement to lighting and everything in between.

Tech Document

We have been working on our tech document, this is a document that describes the technical aspects of our game. In here every team member can find all the technical info needed for our project. Things like naming conventions, what software Is used but also the target audience and programming guidelines. This document will keep updating and growing with our project.

Art bible

Most of our artists time this week was spend on making the art bible for our game. This document will ensure that the art will be consistent throughout the production phase. It is imperative that this is clear and well documented for all the artists in the team. There is a general mood board but also more detailed information like the shape language, color palette, textures and shaders, UI and RFX.moodboard

(Example from our art bible)

This also lets us find more research question because we must really get into detail of the subjects. These questions will have to be answered next week.

Next week

Next week we aim to fully finish the art bible and the tech document, do more testing of the prototypes and finetune the gameplay. We need to further prepare for the first production sprint that is coming up.
